Match Report 29/06/2010

Tuesday (29 June 2010) night saw the 1st XI make it safely through to the quarter finals of the NCL Twenty 20 Cup with a 41 run win at home to Old CC. The division 5 side won the toss and asked us to bat first. We reached 175 for 4 with Jarrod unbeaten on 62. In reply, Old put up a plucky attempt but were never up with the run rate and despite only losing two wickets, they ended well short. The captain would like to say a big thank-you to Vanessa for scoring, Oz for umpiring and for all those who came down to give the team their support - it was much appreciated

The draw for the quarter finals should take place in the next week or so. The other sides through are Finedon (who edged past Obelisk CC by 226 runs!), Northampton Saints, Burton Latimer, Loddington, Oundle, Isham and one of Horton House or Kettering. A win in the next round would see Stony make it through to finals day, which will be held on August bank holiday Sunday at the county ground, Northampton.
