The AGM took place on 8th December 2009 and was well attended. Thanks to Barthez for running the bar and to Rowena for laying on some excellent post meeting grub. Here's an update for those of you who weren't able to make it.
Officers reports
Chairman Neil Allen and Secretary Stuart Gulliver both focussed on thesuccesses on the pitch in 2009, recognising the role our youth policy has had in promotions for the 3rds and 4ths on a Saturday and a championship for the 2s on a Sunday. Neil and Gully also stressed the importance of the members continuing to support the committee in ensuring essential jobs are
carried out during the both the summer and the off season.
Treasurer Paul Critchley gave a very thourough account of the accounts. The picture is brighter than in 2008, mainly thanks to a doubling of profit from the bar (well done all you drinkers) and increased sponsorship revenue. However, the club's outgoings still very nearly match it's income and a huge amount of work is still to be done to get the club into a positive financial position. A finance sub committee has been formed to work out the best way of achieving this.
Election of captains
1st XI: Captain, Steve Bellew; Vice captain, Nick Allen
2nd XI: Captain, Chris Swain; Vice captain, Steve Underdown
3rd XI: Captain, Andy Preston; Vice captain, Neil Fewtrell
4th XI: Captain, Rob Arnold; Vice captain, Rob Wells
With Dion's return to the club still to be finalised, Steve Bellew was voted in as club captain for 2010. Nick Allen steps up to vice captain, with Unders vice captain in the 2's. The mean, lean promotion machine of Presto and Neil continue in the 3's. Smudge steps down as skipper of the 4's as does Disco as vice captain, and they are replaced by the two Robbies.
Sundays
1st XI: Captain, James Chaplin; Vice captain, Jamie Baxter
2nd XI: Captain, John Aylott
Election of officers
The vast majority of the committee remains in place, including Club President Tudor Cowley, Chairman Neil Allen, Secretary Stuart Gulliver, Cricket Manager Mike Smith, Treasurer Paul Critchley, Bar Manager Fred Frisbee, House Manager Rowena Whitehead and Youth Cricket Manager Mick Capel.
Steve Richardson was welcomed on to the committee as sponsorship manager. This is a crucial position that has been vacant of late and we're delighted that Steve has taken the job on.
Mike Avery has stepped down after several years as ground manager. Every member of the club who has either played at the club or who's children have played at the club in recent years owe Mikey a debt of gratitude for the tremendous amount of work he has done on the ground in his time as ground manager. Unfortunately, the role wasn't filled last night and clearly it will be a huge focus for the committe to come up with a solution regarding ground management in the coming weeks.
Charlotte Bellew steps down as social secretary as she's due to give birth to a little Bellew in February next year. Charlotte stepped in last year to cover the role and as well as organising some successful events down at the club, she also put a huge amount of work into this years highly successful dinner and dance at Stadium:mk. Well done to Char Char. Again,
this role was not filled at the AGM last night and if anyone not at the AGM would like to volunteer to do it, please contact one of the committee.
That about wrapped things up, at precisely 9.07. Your correspondent lost a bet for about the fifth year in a row on the finishing time of the AGM, forcing him to reluctantly buy both Ozzie and Woody a drink. Other than that, it was a pretty successful evening - but we must get those two positions filled!!!
